What I Offer

MEITU_20250502_191225707.jpg

Astarion (BG3) - Commissioned and Modelled by @vampyrr_cowboyzz (Instagram)

I work largely with fabric, simple armour, and props. Examples of my work are available in my portfolio. I have experience with tailoring techniques, as well as hand embroidery (including goldwork), and enjoy incorporating these into my outfits. I very much enjoy prop making- particularly the more peculiar!

I'd also love to make anything around your D&D character, OC’s or original concepts, and I’m happy to work with designs you’ve come up with yourself, or to work together to make an original design.

A lot of my commissions have been for jackets, coats and unusual props. Some examples of what I offer (but are not exclusive to) are...

  • Full fabric costumes.

  • Parts of fabric costumes- such as only a coat, jacket, dress, corset.

  • Accessories- including hats, belts and jewellery.

  • Simple armour.

  • Props - large and small.

  • Horns, tails, paws and ears.

I'm open to discussing costumes of all types, with a few exceptions. The below are things I do NOT offer currently.

  • I will not take commissions with advanced, or full sets of armour such as full mecha-suits, stilts and the like.

  • I will generally not work with LEDs and lights. I can make exceptions at my own discretion for small items and accessories.

  • Latex items, such as fake ears, scars, SFX.

  • Latex/vinyl body suits.

  • Shoes.

  • Advanced mechanics such as moving wings.

  • Large wings that involve a harness.

I do not currently offer wig commissions, my commissions are solely for the cosplay outfit and other accessories/props.

I do NOT have access to 3D printing, nor do I have a machine for embroidery. Everything I do is by hand, so please bear this in mind when commissioning me!

I reserve the right to say I am unable to adequately complete a commission, and therefore I may not accept all commissions.

Due to the uniqueness of each costume, pricing will vary depending on which cosplay you request. A full quote can be given by filling in my Google Form, but if you have any questions please feel free to email me, or contact me on Instagram. I'm always happy to discuss!

My commissions are not cheap, as there is a lot of intensive labour involved on my part, and raw materials can be expensive. I'm happy to discuss with you using cheaper materials where possible, but please bear in mind this may impact how the cosplay looks. I calculate my prices based on raw materials (which can include anything from thread, fabric, trims, foam, glue etc), plus what I estimate the cost of making the cosplay will be - in which I do estimated hours making x the UK National Living Wage (£12.21 an hour).

Detailing choices will also affect the price. Hand embroidery for example, takes hours of additional work, so please bear this in mind if you request as such, as this will severely raise the price. I do offer many detailing methods though! Such as heat transfer vinyl, partial embroidery, leather/fabric applique, fabric painting, dyeing, devoré/burnout to name a few.

I offer payments in three ways, at your preference. This is either...

  • The full amount up front, before work begins.

  • A 75% non-refundable initial payment before work begins, and 25% upon completion of the final product.

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit of the total cost is required before work begins, and the rest will be split to 25% halfway through crafting, and 25% upon the final product being completed.

I'll request these by invoices from Square, so please keep an eye on your emails! You will also be required to pay the shipping before the item is sent with all of the above payment plans.

Once work has begun, these payments are not refundable, as this is for custom work. If the midway payment is not sent when requested, work will be stopped on the commission, and failure to pay within a week of this time means you will be considered as canceling your commission. Equally, if the final payment is not made, I will not ship the costume until it has been paid, and if payment is refused, your commission will be considered cancelled by yourself. As such, any money will not be refundable, and you will not receive a costume. PLEASE MAKE YOU ARE LOOKING AT YOUR EMAILS. I will try to reach out to ensure you've received my invoices, but it is your responsibility.

Please do not commission me if after the quote, you are unsure if you will be able to pay! Equally, please let me know ASAP if you face any unexpected difficulties. I'm always happy to discuss!

You will also be responsible for shipping costs upon completion of the cosplay, and the exact shipping method will be agreed with you prior to shipping. I will only send items with tracking, and I also film my packing process, and take pictures of the costume before shipping.

Commission Slots and Waiting List

MEITU_20250502_170430844.jpg

Raphael (BG3) - Commissioned and Modelled by @prettyy_boyzz (Instagram)

I operate on a system of slots, and a waiting list. I will accept a set amount of commission slots that I will actively be working on, but you are also able to join my waiting list.

My waiting list consists of a maximum of TWO people. If you are on the waiting list there is no guarantee of WHEN I will be able to take your commission, but I will contact you with priority when a commission slot is available. If you no longer wish to commission me, I will remove you from the waiting list, and then move down the list, before opening commission slots again.

If you are on the waiting list for a complex commission, I may open my commission slots for a simpler costume. This will be because I have the capacity to work on a simpler costume, but not for a larger.

If you have a commission slot, but do not reply in adequate time, or do not pay the first up front payment within 2 weeks of us finalising the quote/agreeing to work together, I have the right to remove you from your slot and take a different commission.

Please keep an eye out for invoices, and frequently check your emails.

CURRENT COMMISSION SLOTS: CLOSED.

WAITLIST: 1/2

Any questions and queries are always welcome! However if my commission slots and wait list is full, I will not be accepting submissions on my Google Form!

Creation and Delivery Time

The time required for a project will vary greatly depending on the complexity of a project, though generally the turnaround can be from 2 months to 6+ months. Please feel free to let me know your desired deadline, and I will let you know if this is viable!

For example, a simple skirt or jacket will have a far shorter creation time than a complex full length tailored coat or full cosplay. Please bear in mind that full cosplays, and complex outfits, will take longer. It also takes time to source materials, get them delivered and to create patterns.

I do not do rush commissions, and if I do, there will be an additional 50% charge for the costume. I generally class this as anything with less than a two month deadline, however for very simple single items, this would not apply and I can be more flexible.

Alongside this, I only send items tracked and signed for, and cover them with insurance. When commissioning, please consider that there can be delays with shipping, though I will do my best to ship before our agreed deadline.

Adjustments for Accessibility

Robin (FE:A) - Commissioned by @vampyrr_cowboyzz (Instagram) and Modelled by @prettyy_boyzz (Instagram)

As a neurodivergent cosplayer myself, I know the importance of making sure a costume is comfortable and accessible!

As such, I endeavour to make sure costumes made with me are as accessible as possible to people of all walks of life. I'm happy to create costumes to cater for disability, size, gender, sensory issues, and anything else! If you have something specific you need, please do either inquire directly with me via email, or add it to my Commission form (which can be found in the below section, Placing an Order).

Some examples of what I can offer are:

  • Functional Pockets

  • Full lining of garments, or covering seams.

  • Altering placement of my labels so they are not at risk of scratching skin.

  • Offering iron on-labels.

  • Considering fabric options, e.g. if you dislike velvet, I will not include this.

  • Consideration for allergies (e.g. to wool/latex). I also come from a currently pet-free household.

  • Adjusting costumes for wheelchair users e.g. shortening capes.

  • Additional cosplay elements - such as wheelchair wheel plates, or decoration for other mobility aids.

  • Alternative fastenings- I can make cosplays where possible with different fastenings such as velcro, buttons, hook and eyes, poppers etc.

This list is non-exclusive! If there is anything else you'd like me to consider, please email me and we can discuss. If I do not think I can viably adjust your costume, I will let you know before I provide a quote for you.

Please first read my TERMS AND CONDITIONS, as I will ask you a few times if these have been read and accepted. If you're unsure about anything there, please let me know.

If you've done this, please visit THIS LINK which will take you to my Google form.

Alternatively, if you have difficulties with hyperlinks, a link to my form is as follows: https://forms.gle/HDiRVC54jMszJs5H9

Please fill this in, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you submit a request whilst my commission slots, and waiting list is closed, the commission will not be taken.

Once the form has been submitted, please ensure to email me the reference photos for your request at lyridsatelier@gmail.com, or via DM on my instagram @lyridsatelier, stating your name, when you submitted the form, and the character cosplay/series. My preference is via email, but the option is there if need be!

I do this on the basis that images uploaded straight to the Google Form will save straight to my files and then it becomes harder for me to keep track.

Please also let me know of any special requests. This can be regarding materials, colours, or specific trimmings/techniques you would like used for your cosplay. This can also include if you need large props to break down into a specific amount of pieces, if you need an item of clothing to be stretchy, or if you need the use of functional pockets as a few examples.

If there is anything you're not sure of, please feel free to email me so we can discuss!
