What Do I Draw?

Here are my do's and don'ts for what I will draw. Generally I'm best versed in character art- from headshots, busts, full body and basic character sheets.

I Do Draw:
⦁    Humans/Humanoid characters
⦁    Partial inhuman characters- such as Nagas, tieflings etc
⦁    D&D Characters.
⦁    OC's and Sonas (including characters such as The Inquisitor from DA:I, BG3 Tavs/Durge's etc).
⦁    Fandom and Canon Characters
⦁    Light to medium Body Horror and Gore
⦁    Partial nudity. (I will NOT draw anything suggestive or NSFW for minors).

I Do Not Draw:
⦁    Full NSFW (partial nudity is fine).

⦁    Anything of hateful intent, e.g. hate speech, hatred towards any group, hate symbols etc
⦁    Full anthros (animal aspects are fine, such as wings, ears, tails, horns etc!).
⦁    Full robots (I can draw aspects, such as robotic limbs, eyes etc!).

If you're unsure if I can meet your requirements, I'm happy to discuss!

Some extra details may include an additional fee depending on complexity. Examples of what may incur this fee are as follows (but are not exclusive to): sets of wings, complicated props, pets/animal companions.

Terms of Service

PLEASE READ THESE IN FULL BEFORE COMMISSIONING.

How does the Commission Process Work?

  • Usually I will open limited slots at a time. This is currently between 2-5, depending on the workload I can manage. My turnaround ranges from under a week, to several months depending on my current capacity. This will be discussed with you.

  • If all slots are taken, you can be asked to be put on my wait list, and I will contact you personally when my art commission slots next reopen.

  • I ask everyone who wishes to commission me to read my full terms and conditions, and to complete my Google Form. This form covers everything for the commission! If you need any help filling it in, please feel free to contact me on Instagram or at lyridsatelier@gmail.com. I hope to make the process as accessible as possible!

  • After completing the form I will discuss your needs with you, and confirm what you have explained in the form, as well as provide a quote for you.

  • If you are then happy to proceed with the commission, I will send you a second form for you to just confirm you're happy, and then the invoice through Square to your email. This will need to be paid in full before I begin your commission.

  • Once payment has been received I will begin work on your art piece. Based on the Google Form and our discussion, I will provide you with multiple very rough pose sketches. These are to help us both understand what works best for you! When you choose a rough pose, I will begin the proper sketch. It is at this stage you can request a complete pose change or major alterations without an additional fee. Once you have confirmed a rough pose and I've started drawing properly, complete redraws will incur a fee, but I am happy to adjust as much as needed at this stage before you confirm that I can go ahead.

  • After I have finished the sketch, I will send this to you once more for approval. Here you may request some minor changes and modifications before I finalise, but not complete pose/other major alterations, and the adding of new additional elements- as these would incur a fee. I will do my best to accommodate adjustments, but 3+ fixes, or complex changes that involve redrawing may incur a fee depending on their complexity and how much time they take. This is at my discretion.

  • As I come to complete the final product, I will check in once more where you can ask for MINOR fixes- such as if I have missed a feature, or a colour adjustment. Further fixes will incur a fee, as will more complex fixes- particularly ones where you have approved the art in previous check ins.

  • When you have approved the final product, and final alterations have be made, I will send you the full art piece!

Usage and Distribution

  • All commissions are DIGITAL ONLY. They are non-physical goods that do not require shipping to a physical address.

  • Commissions are for PERSONAL USE ONLY. If you require commercial work, please contact me via email to discuss at length. Commercial work will incur further costs. Please see my FAQ for an idea of what would constitute personal vs commercial work.

  • Redistribution for profit is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

  • My artwork and commissions are NOT allowed to be used in ANY NFTs, cryptocurrency, AI art training, and anything else akin to this. If I find this to be the case, you will be blacklisted.

  • I have the right to decline a commission for any reason.

  • I retain the rights to any artwork I have produced, including posting commissioned artwork on my social media, using it in my portfolio, or commission samples. If you do not want your commission posted publicly, please let me know in advance. I like to give credit to the design of people's OC's when I post, so please leave your social media!

  • If you aim to use your commission for streaming purposes (such as a PNGTuber, for Twitch Streaming, or Youtube, etc.), please let me know when you order. This will incur a commercial fee dependent on the usage.

  • You may post your commissioned art on social media, but you MUST credit me, ideally through my Instagram (@lyridsatelier), or my website. Do not claim commissioned artwork was drawn by yourself.

  • PLEASE DO NOT REPOST COMMISSION ARTWORK, UNLESS IT WAS DRAWN FOR YOU.

Pricing and Payment

  • My prices are in GBP (£, Great British Pounds). You are responsible for any conversions, or fees from payment in a different currency.

  • Payment will be upfront via Square invoices, sent directly to the email provided by you. I will not start work until this is paid. I do not do installments for art commissions.

  •  I do not refund art commissions as they are custom work. Please be certain you have the funds, and this is something you want, before you commission me.

  • There are select circumstances a refund may be given.

    • The first is if I am unfit to finish your commission, where I will refund you in full, regardless of progress.

    •  The second is if I have not begun any form of drawing. This includes rough sketches. As soon as I have started drawing, even if I have not sent you the rough sketches yet, this means you will NOT get a refund. In this second case, the refund will be minus the fees Square takes for invoicing. Please be aware I usually begin drawing very quickly after payment.

  • If you are unsure if you have the funds, or are unsure about the commission, please let me know before you pay the invoice. Once you have paid, that is final. I am happy to put you on a wait list if you are interested, but need time.

  • If Invoices are not paid within 14 days, without you providing me an update, I will cancel your order and give your slot to the next person in line.

References

You are required to send me visual references of your characters for the commission! It is your responsibility to make sure these are clear, and that any design elements you need changed/added, or that are not seen in the reference, to be specified to me.

Reference images can be anything that depicts your character. Drawings, photos, Picrews are all acceptable, as long as they are clear! I will be drawing using these images, so if anything is different it MUST be specified when you send the references and we are discussing the commission.

I can work with a typed description if need be as well, but would prefer this to be supported by images.

Please also feel free to provide pose inspiration, outfit inspiration or any other elements you may like!

Please share these via a Google Drive, emailing me directly, or by sharing with me via Instagram.

If your reference images are not adequate, I may refuse your commission.

If you are unsure on this, or if you want to discuss designing a character together, please email me and I'd love to discuss!

Additional Information

  • My turnaround can range from within a week to a few months, depending on my current workload and capacity. We will discuss this prior to commissioning!

  • I will consider rush commissions for an additional fee, but this is NOT a guarantee.

  • You can edit your commission very slightly- such as cropping it for icons or headers, adding a filter, or making colour fixes. Please do not claim the art is yours even with these minor edits.

  • By commissioning me, you automatically agree to the terms and conditions listed here, and in my Google Forms.

  • Please discuss with me if you are requesting more than 3 characters in separate pieces. There will be different charges for larger orders, and I may not have the capacity to accept a larger commission. I would still love to hear what you have in mind though, such as if you want a D&D party drawn!

  • I reserve the right to decline commissions.

FAQ
What changes to my drawing might incur a fee?

Generally, the biggest risk of this is asking for a complete pose redraw, or major alteration, after approving the rough pose sketch and I have moved on and sketched the actual piece. This is as you would have already confirmed this for me, and I would have spent my time working on this! I am happy to change this at this stage, but it will be for a fee. Additionally I am happy to make alterations for minor things even after you have approved sketches, but a fee will be at my discretion depending on the complexity.

  • As an example, the following would NOT incur a fee as a minor fix: Colour adjustments (e.g. changing the colour of a character's hair to be a more muted green), missed features (e.g. I have forgotten to draw an important piercing the character has).

  • As examples, the following WOULD incur a fee as a minor or major fix: You make multiple time consuming adjustments, you change your character's hairstyle (such as from long to short), you want the position of a limb changed (as this would require a redraw and colour), you would like an animal companion added to the drawing. This list is non exhaustive! Essentially, it covers anything that would take substantial time redrawing, and/or you have already approved something different and want it changed.

So please let me know if you need things changed at my sketch stages! I'm very open to discussion and want the commission to be perfect for you! I do try to be reasonable with this as well.

Do you draw in a different style?

No. Please do not ask me to draw in another artist's style! You can see my style in my Portfolio.

What is Personal vs. Commercial Use?

Essentially personal use is commissioning artwork for yourself (or a friend) that will not be monetised in any capacity. This includes buying a commission as a gift to a friend (that they will not make money from). Commercial artwork is monetised in a variety of ways, such as for a game, streaming, PNGTubers, and for merchandise.
My commissions here and through my Google Form do not cover commercial use. If you are unsure about this, please feel free to drop me a message!

So what can you do with a personal commission?

Can I print out my commission artwork to use as a poster on my own wall, or set my commission artwork as my computer background?
Yes!
Can I use my commissioned artwork to gift to a friend, such as printing it on a keychain? This keychain is not being sold, only gifted as a one off.
Yes!
Can I make merch with my commission to sell? Such as making keychains that I then sell online?
No. If you want to sell my art, please contact me to discuss this beforehand as this will be a different arrangement to the art commission here. The selling or monetisation of my art is strictly prohibited, and commercial arrangements are something that need to be discussed at length and will have different pricing.

Pricing

Each type of commission (aside from Chibi selections) can be chosen as just a black and white sketch, a flat colour drawing or a full colour drawing. Additional elements like backgrounds, complex props, or more characters will have additional costs.

Please see my portfolio for more examples!

A plaintext version of my art commission pricing can be found here.

  • This commission covers art involving the head, and shoulders.

Examples of how the Commission Price is calculated.

The commissioner requests a Full Colour, Half Body image (base price, £40) of two characters in the same image (+90%, £36) with a background of a night sky (discussed to be £12). The total here is £40+£36+£12, so £88.

Commissioner requests two art pieces. The first is a full colour, full body (base price, £54) with a complex city background (discussed to be £25) posed with a large scythe (+£7), and the second is a head sketch (+90% of £12 base price, £10.80) with a simple background of a circle (Free). The total here is £54+£25+£7+£10.80, so £96.80.
